#33 Dr. Amy Novatt (Gynecologist) / Eryn Stutts (Pakt and Tuct) “Women’s Health and Food is Love”

SHARE NOW

Today on the show Shana and Theresa dive into their own personal stories around gynecology. Shana shares about her early years on birth control pills and near cancerous HPV diagnosis in her early 30’s. And Theresa shares about her recent experiences getting much closer with gynecologists through her struggle trying to control her hormones both before and after IVF. We play a clip from the documentary ‘She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry’ on the women’s movement and women’s reproductive rights and their bodies. Somehow we just never have enough time with our guests, but we tried to cover as much as possible.

Our first guest Dr. Amy Novatt is a fierce feminist and felt that gynecology was a perfect fit for her. She believes that women’s health is in jeopardy with our current political climate. She is firm believer that how we vote will immediately show up in our health care access. She explains all different kinds of contraception, the importance of pap smears, the confusion of perimenopause, and encourages us to speak up with our doctors and ask questions. WHEW! Everything Vagina!

Our second guest Eryn Stutts is chef and owner of Pakt Restaurant here in Midtown Kingston. Eryn is a planner and a goal setter, and is conscious of the various phases of her life. Right now she’s in a phase of hosting other people’s lives, as opposed to focusing on her own stuff, and part of that is the upcoming event, Hogtied, an LGBTQ Hoedown. Eryn started cooking as a way to destress from the workday. Despite being an early successful plus-sized model and having her own fashion line, Eryn decided to leave the fashion world behind when she realized that she enjoyed cooking for private clients more than she enjoyed designing from her cubicle. Jumping ship for greener pastures, Eryn landed in the Hudson Valley where she collaborates with like minded friends and neighbors and makes southern comfort food that hugs you back

Self care? Well, we talked about food of course. How well prepared food makes us feel good, and how making time for the sacredness in food is healing to us.
